About us

Little Treasures is a truly local business, established in 1995 in Cranleigh by Jackie and Mark Reed and operating within Cranleigh, Godalming, Guildford, Woking and all surrounding villages.

How it all began

In 1995 Jackie was looking for a potential business idea to enable her to work from home as we had young children. Being faced with the endless chores of cleaning and ironing whilst struggling to find suitable and reliable help led us to explore opportunities within the domestic services market.

We noticed that most home cleaning companies operated ‘van-type’ operations. Typically, a couple of cleaners in uniform turned up and blitzed each house. The next visit brought two different cleaners, depending on who the company had available that day. We felt that if we were to use a home cleaning service ourselves we would want to meet the person(s) who would be coming into our home in advance.  We would hope that they would be the same person each time so that we could get to know them and they would understand about what we expected, our standards etc. For people who are out at work all day and handing a key over to allow access, knowing exactly who would be going into your home seemed to us very important.

Turning the idea into reality

The idea of Little Treasures was born out of the vision for a home cleaning and ironing service that offered clients the opportunity to meet their worker in advance and allow both parties to decide whether they are mutually suited to each other. The business has grown steadily over the last 24 years and Little Treasures is now the natural choice for anyone looking for a quality and reliable service at an affordable price. We don’t have expensive high-street premises and whilst we do advertise regularly, many of our new clients come from referrals from other satisfied clients. We still have a few clients that joined us back in 1995 and overall the majority of our clients are very loyal and do stay with us for many years. Some clients leave and come back or change the hours or type of service over time as their needs and circumstances change.

Quality is the key

One of the great strengths of our business is the quality of the workers that we offer to you. Our vetting procedures are rigorous of course but, as with our clients, we do benefit from terrific loyalty from our workers. Jackie spends a lot of time talking to them and understanding their needs and work/life pressures. We try to be flexible with the work we offer them but most of all we encourage good communication with their client(s) to avoid ever letting anyone down.  Requesting  feedback about their work so that we can be sure that our clients are happy is also very important.

We welcome workers of all ages (minimum 18) and nationalities. Although the majority of our workers are female, we do currently have a few male workers on our register.  We also have a few couples who work together which suits some clients with a limited time slot available for cleaning.

So whether you are a potential client or looking for a little part-time work, why not come and join Little Treasures?
